Recap of 2012
Today we’re saying goodbye to 2012. I always love New Years but this has been an amazing year! Here are some of the highlights…
- We downsized from 3800 sq ft to 300 sq ft.
- We spent 5 months of the year traveling full time in our RV.
- We lived without a regular car for 4 months.
- We home schooled.
- We visited 7 different states. (Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma)
- We visited lots of family and saw some old friends.
- We went to our first apple orchard.
- Luke ate his first frog legs.
- We crossed the Mississippi River more times than I can count.
- John won a backyard BBQ contest.
- We experienced a tropical storm in Missouri.
- We made new friends. Lots of new friends.
- We learned that there is nothing in Oklahoma.
- We launched this blog and remodeled our motorhome.
- I was published by several insurance industry publications.
- Luke learned how to read!
- Scarlett learned how to walk!
- We spent a lot of time together.
- We stayed on Route 66.
- We got lost.
- We broke down (literally on the side of the road in Festus, MO in a spectacular explosion of backfires).
- I re-learned how to drive a stick shift.
- John learned how to drive a 30 ft motorhome (on winding roads in the snow).
- John changed an alternator, changed batteries, changed oil, ripped up millions of staples, installed new floors, painted for days, and installed new backsplash. (Basically he learned more than anyone ever wants to know about motorhome engines!)
- We simplified.
Where are ya’ll now? We want to get together when ya’ll are in Paris. Maybe Donald will bbq something and we’ll come down. Always ready for eats!
We’re in your favorite place…Hot Springs! Scarlett wasn’t feeling well so we decided to stop for a few days. I’ll let you know when we finalize plans to go to Paris.
Make sure you go eat barbq at Smokin in Style and have frozen yogurt at Orange Leaf on Hidgon Ferry Road. Both places are delicious. The yogurt place is a serve yourself place and free samples. Barbq is one of the best pork I’ve had except for Roy’s and Alligators in Belize. You wouldn’t think of pork barbq in Belize but I’d say it was probably the best I’ve had. The ribs were outstanding. Ya’ll have to try it. And they give you a lot.
Hope Scarlett is feeling better. Colds are going around up here. Roy’s had one but I haven’t as of yet. (fingers crossed)
Let me know when ya’ll get to Paris. Maybe Rachael will bring her crew down and we’ll get together at Donald’s for the day.
If you have time…stop in Forrest City to see JD and Bobbie. I’m sure they would love to see the kids. Very convenient to interstate. Would be a nice stop between Hot Springs and Paris.
