Today is John’s 30th birthday! We met when we were 19, so it seems like a LONG time ago now. And I get to tease him for a while until I hit the big 3-0 in 6 months.
Luke absolutely LOVES birthdays. His favorite thing is to plan a fun party. Our family tradition is to wake up to cake and decorations. So Luke and I went and got some supplies last night.
We had to get them inside without being detected and Luke told me we needed a “sopistcate plan”. (He meant sophisticated, haha.)
We managed to surprise him this morning with balloons, party hats, a German Chocolate cake, and a few cupcakes for the kids too. I actually lit all 30 candles but they were melting so fast I couldn’t take a picture!
Here are Luke and his favorite elf Chippy posing for a picture in their hats. (Sorry for the weird smile, we were in a hurry!)
We also surprised John with a new white iPad 2 for his birthday! His old iPad was falling apart and being taken over by children. We bought it back when the very first ones came out several years ago. I think he will enjoy this new one a lot. And I removed all of John’s stuff from the old iPad and we’re using it just for kids games and school activities now.
Then I figured I should share this lovely picture with you all from dinner tonight. This is Miss Scarlett after her ravioli meal. I think someone gave her a little too much meat sauce.
All in all, I think John had a great birthday. Here’s to many, many more!

Happy Birthday John. Love the pictures…bout time! Missed them. I think Scarlet loves spaghetti sauce. And Luke has an elf face.
I know, I’ve been terrible about pictures lately! Must fix this.
I know John had a great birthday with a crew like this! Luke is a good party planner. That picture is nuts! He looks like Sheldon from Big Bang and Scarlett looks kinda creepy…but funny!
Haha, he does look like Sheldon. I know Bekah will be happy to see Chippy in this pic too.
